it's giving us the clouds this morning and will again give us some clouds throughout the day on and off but it does look like all the rain that's down there is going to be scooting off toward the north and itself east. by lunch time some clouds, especially south of town. we'll see high clouds again and even later this afternoon, this evening those clouds continue to stream over us but any rain may just sneak into southeastern virginia late today and tonight. tomorrow morning we're starting with some clouds, especially east of town but i think it will be a partly to mostly sunny day so a prettier day than today. high temperatures tomorrow into the low 50s. saturday looks like the better day coming up with temperatures potentially into the mid-50s. but there's no major weather systems headed our way. so if you're taking off today headed up to boston, 42. buffalo 46. chicago the clouds and 50. we're looking at some of the showers down from charlotte over toward raleigh, maybe out toward the outer banks as well. temperatures in the low to mid- 50s and in new york today mostly cloudy and 48.

it's a little closer to us. this has been a trend we've been watching really since yesterday, the day before how the track from the hurricane center keeps nudging a little more west, a little more southwest, a little closer to us and the closer to us obviously the more of a threat sandy will be. let's start off with sandy. the satellite and radar or the satellite, color enhanced satellite. i don't have the radar on this but there's quite a bit of rain. even though you don't see the coldest cloud tops into southeast florida. they're getting tropical storm conditions. one thing we'll see with sandy over the next day or two is the expanding wind field. some of the tropical storm force winds could extend 300 miles from the center by the time it gets up here. even the winds 50, 60 miles an hour could be 120 miles from the center when it gets here. there she is now pulling out of the northern bahamas. the center of the circulation is on the south end of the cloud tops. 80 miles an hour. it's come down agent bit more.
